The Liturgical Committee consists of the following and their duties in preparation, participation and duties for the celebration of Mass.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS of Holy Communion at Mass.
a.) The celebration of the Eucharist requires a sufficient number of Ministers so that it may be distributed in a reverent and orderly manner. Bishops, priests and deacons distribute Holy Communion in virtue of their office as Ordinary Minsters of the Body and Blood of the Lord. Extraordinary Ministers assist in the distribution whenever there is a need for additional Minsters to assist the Ordinary Ministers. Extraordinary Minsters are trained and receive spiritual, theological and practical preparation to perform their role with reverence and knowledge of the distribution.

b.) All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharistic by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread and wine.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS also distribute Holy Communion to the sick at home,
hospital and nursing homes.

a.) Regular visit to someone suffering from the effects of age, illness or infirmity.
b.) The Ministers will also distribute Holy Communion to someone who is dying.
c.) The Ministers also distribute communion to a sick or dying child.

READERS PROCLAMING THE WORD OF GOD.
In the Readings, God’s Word is proclaimed to the faithful. The Readings are always read from the Ambo. The Reader will after each Reading pronounces the Acclamation, will also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer, recite the Psalm between the Readings. Readers are trained and receive spiritual, theological and practical preparation to perform their role with reverence and knowledge of the distribution of the Readings. All Readers should show the greatest reverence for the Proclamation of the Word of God by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they proclaim the Readings.

The CHOIR is a very important part of the MASS. The Choir Leader will choose music reverent to the MASS, the season of the Liturgical Year, and the congregation being able to participate in the music. All members of the Choir should show the greatest reverence for the Mass by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they perform the music for the Mass.

ALTAR SERVERS AND MASTERS OF CEROMONY. Both of these groups are crucial to the flow of the Mass by performing the duties assigned to them. The Cross Bearer will show reverence to the method of holding the Cross in the processional and the recessional. The holder of the Book will be prompt in the delivery of the Book to the Priest. The Altar server assisting the priest in the washing of the hands will be prompt in meeting the Priest when it is time to do so. The MC’s will supervise the altar servers and ringing of the bells when the time to ring the bells during the Mass.

The reverence and orderly flow of the Mass requires all of these members of the liturgy to perform their part so that Mass will be presented to the faithful in a seamless manner.
